Directions to Castlewood Cottages
The Front Way
Take the 10 (Santa Monica/San Bernardino freeway) to the 30 freeway. Go north towards the mountains for about 5 miles, until you see 330 cutoff to Running Springs. Take the 330. In the town of Running Springs, the 330 will turn into the 18. Keep going all the way to Big Bear Lake. When you get to the dam, cross over the dam, and continue another 5 miles until you get to the village of Big Bear Lake. Just before you reach the village, turn left on Paine road, which curves to the right and turns into Big Bear Blvd. Go another 1/4 mile, and turn right on Main street. As soon as you turn, you will see us on the left-Castlewood Cottages, 547 Main street.
The Back Way (highway 38)
Take the 10 freeway to the Alabama exit in Redlands. Turn left (north) to Lugonia. Turn right on Lugonia. Stay on Lugonia all the way through the town of Mentone, where Lugonia turns into highway 38. Go all the way to Big Bear City, then turn left on Big Bear Blvd. Stay on Big Bear Blvd. all the way into Big Bear Lake. You will pass both Bear Mountain and Snow Summit ski resorts. Keep going about 1 more mile, you will see Main street on your left (the next street after Knight St.) Turn left on Main street. As soon as you turn on Main, you will see us on the left-Castlewood Cottages, 547 Main street.
The Back Way (highway 18)
From the 15 freeway, from Barstow, take the 247 (Barstow Road) east to Lucerne Valley. In Lucerne Valley, turn left on highway 18, and skip to here*. From Victorville, take the Bear Valley Cutoff east to Lucerne Valley. In Lucerne valley, veer right to stay on the 18. *Stay on highway 18 all the way up the mountains. You will pass Baldwin Lake. Keep going all the way to Division street, where you will turn left. Go to the signal, and turn right. You are now on Big Bear Blvd. You will pass both Bear Mountain and Snow Summit ski resorts. Keep going about 1 more mile, you will see Main street on your left (the next street after Knight St.) Turn left on Main street. As soon as you turn on Main, you will see us on the left-Castlewood Cottages, 547 Main street.
From San Diego
Take the 15 north. Just past Temecula, get into the right hand lanes to go onto the 215 towards Riverside. The 215 will take you to the 60 freeway west-stay in the left lanes to get onto the 60. Now get in the right lane to transition onto the 215 north towards San Bernardino. In San Bernardino, take the 10 freeway east towards Redlands. In Redlands, take the 30 freeway north towards the mountains. Go north towards the mountains for about 5 miles, until you see 330 cutoff to Running Springs. Take the 330. In the town of Running Springs, the 330 will turn into the 18. Keep going all the way to Big Bear Lake. When you get to the dam, cross over the dam, and continue another 5 miles until you get to the village of Big Bear Lake. Just before you reach the village, turn left on Paine road, which curves to the right and turns into Big Bear Blvd. Go another 1/4 mile, and turn right on Main street. As soon as you turn, you will see us on the left-Castlewood Cottages, 547 Main street.
From Palm Springs
Take the 10 freeway to the 30 freeway north, and continue as above in "the front way".
From Palmdale/Lancaster
Highway 14 to Pearblossom (138) which turns into highway 18. Continue as in "the back way (highway 18) above.
From Santa Barbara/Ventura
Highway 101 south to freeway 210 east. Continue to the 57 south, to the 10 east. Take the 10 (Santa Monica/San Bernardino freeway) to the 30 freeway.
